CPAP data, decoded

Finally understand your CPAP data — in plain English

Upload your SD card. SleepSignalsIQ turns thousands of numbers into a clear picture of your sleep: what's working, what's not, and what's changed. Stop guessing why you're still tired.

  • Works with ResMed AirSense 10 & 11
  • Nothing to install: last night's data, right in your browser
  • Free forever plan · no credit card required

You've got the machine. But is it actually helping?

Your doctor sent you home with a CPAP. The machine shows you a number or two on its screen, but nobody explained what "good" looks like, or whether you're anywhere near it.

Meanwhile, the SD card in your machine is quietly recording every breath, every leak, every event, night after night.

That data holds the answers. It's just locked in a format built for engineers, not for people trying to get a good night's sleep.

What you get

Your sleep data, finally in plain English

SleepSignalsIQ reads all of it: the same therapy data a sleep clinic reviews.

You get three answers.

How you slept

Your key numbers, in context, so you know if they’re good or need attention.

What’s getting in the way

Mask leaks, remaining events, or usage gaps, spotted for you.

Whether it’s working

How this week compares to last, so you can tell if a change actually helped.

Sample report

See it before you sign up

The same metrics you get after your first upload, including an estimated RDI that counts disturbances your AHI leaves out.

Below: mask leak, machine settings, every event. SpO2 and Apple Health on Pro.

One of our own accounts, not a customer's.

Beyond AHI

There's a third kind of event, and AHI doesn't count it.

RDI, the Respiratory Disturbance Index, counts every breathing disruption:

In AHI Apneas Breathing fully stops (≥10s)
In AHI Hypopneas Breathing partly collapses
Only in RDI RERAs Effort-related arousals that fragment sleep

Arousals count on their own: for every 10 more per hour of sleep, the odds of hypertension rose about 10% — even after accounting for AHI. PMID 34970921 ↗

One real night, both measures.
AHI 3.5
RDI 18.6
  • Normal < 5
  • Mild 5–14
  • Moderate 15–29
  • Severe 30+

Built to a sleep technologist's specification, not a generic threshold. A registered sleep technologist scores real nights against the detector to check we got it right.

An estimate from your CPAP's airflow data, not a diagnosis.

What the research says

Why the numbers on your machine matter

Heart and circulation

  • Severe OSA is associated with more than 2× the risk of death from any cause, and nearly 3× the risk of cardiovascular death.

    PMID 27502205 ↗
  • Severe OSA is associated with roughly 2.15× the risk of fatal or non-fatal stroke, and every additional 10 events per hour of AHI with about a 17% increase in cardiovascular disease risk.

    PMID 24161531 ↗

Sleep quality and oxygen

  • Higher nighttime arousal burden has been associated with increased long-term cardiovascular and all-cause mortality.

    PMID 33876221 ↗
  • Among 10,701 adults, mean nighttime oxygen saturation below 93% was associated with substantially higher risk.

    PMID 23770166 ↗

Metabolic health

  • Across 16 cohort studies, OSA was associated with a 40% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and each additional 5 events per hour of AHI with roughly 8% more risk again.

    PMID 31872550 ↗

Brain and memory

  • In a meta-analysis of more than 5.2 million people, sleep apnea was associated with a 28% higher risk of Alzheimer’s disease, a 34% higher risk of dementia, and a 64% higher risk of Parkinson’s disease.

    PMID 39963034 ↗

Cancer risk

  • OSA was associated with a 36% higher overall cancer risk, rising to roughly 2.62× in moderate-to-severe disease.

    PMID 36129602 ↗

These describe risks associated with untreated or under-treated sleep apnea in published research. They are not predictions about any individual, and nothing here is medical advice.

Why it's different

You shouldn't need a course to read your own sleep.

Other tools (and your machine's screen)

  • Assume you already know what’s normal
  • Leave you to interpret — or panic — on your own
  • Expect hours of learning before they help

SleepSignalsIQ

  • Tells you if it’s good, borderline, or worth a call to your doctor
  • Puts one bad night next to the thirty around it
  • Built for you, the person trying to sleep

FAQ

Questions, answered

Which CPAP machines work with SleepSignalsIQ?
SleepSignalsIQ currently supports the ResMed AirSense 10 and AirSense 11. More machines are on our roadmap.
How do I get my data into the app?
Remove the SD card from your CPAP, insert it into your computer, and upload the files in your browser. Or skip the card entirely: SleepSync uploads for you each night.
Do I need to buy anything?
No. The card already in your machine and a free account are enough. SleepSync and a pulse oximeter ring are optional.
What if I take the mask off during the night?
It still counts as one night. Get up, come back, and SleepSignalsIQ joins the sessions together and reports the night’s totals, rather than splitting one night into two or three and reporting each separately.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
It stays yours. You can export everything you have uploaded at any time, and deleting your account removes your data, not just your login. Downgrading to the free plan keeps your uploads; it only limits how far back you can look.
Who else can see my data?
A named clinical advisor may review uploaded therapy data as part of quality review. That is how the detection behind your RDI gets checked against real nights. Our privacy policy explains exactly what they see, and why. We never sell your data.
Is this a replacement for my doctor?
No. SleepSignalsIQ helps you understand and track your own data so you can have better conversations with your care team. It’s information, not a medical diagnosis.
